Happy Halloween

Bob & I went out and got some costumes to wear while passing out candy to all the kiddies the first year we got together for Halloween weekend 2004. I was a witch and he was...well...we still don't know for sure what he was, but he wore a soccer head thingy and it was a riot. We carved some pretty cool pumpkins that year too. We used a "carving kit" that had templates in it. I chose the more challenging one which turned out pretty damn well in my opinion......(the howling wolf). His was a good one too.

This year we decided to have some fun and dress up and carve pumpkins again. (We missed being together last year since I had to work and couldn't get away.) This year we chose to be "super heroes". Not sure how well we'd save anyone or anything, but we will be prepared to have some "super fun" on Tuesday when we go tailgating with our friends to pass out candy. We tailgate simply by parking our truck infront of their house and we all lower our tailgates and sit there to pass out the candy. (this entire reason is because their house is so high up on the hill that the kids don't go up there.) *disregard the attempt at male enhancement....it's a bottle.

Once again...I chose the more challenging template for my pumpkin. Trust me, I almost tossed the pumkin out and went for a new one. I toughed it out and I think it came out pretty damn good. It takes alot of patience to carve out an intricut owl in a pumpkin. Maybe next year I'll do the simple one.

So how are you spending halloween?

Luray Caverns and the Maze

Part of our weekend was spent in the caverns and we went through a pretty cool maze. We had a blast of fun.

All I can say is ..Wow!!

There are many words to discribe the views Bob & I saw this past weekend when we took off on a whim to drive through the Skyline Drive in Virginia's Mountains and stop in Luray to visit the Caverns. Take a look and you'll see what I mean....(I can't post them all because I have way too many to choose from). I'll post some later from Luray Caverns. For now, just enjoy the view.

My photo for dreaming today is to go back to Oxford maryland and relive the time that Bob and I spend there back in June of this year. That was a great get-a-way for the both of us and it would be nice to do again sometime. I love this photo because it makes me feel like Bob and I are those sailboats sailing off into the sunset.

Wow..it's Friday already

October is flying by...just like all the other months do I suppose. Hard to believe it's the 20th already though. Heck next weekend we turn the clocks back an hour. The trees have started to turn here. Nothing spectacular yet though that I see.

Yesterday was one week that passed since I had my interview with Commerce Bank. I haven't heard anything from them so I'll assume they weren't interested in me. They checked my credit report though. I recieved a notice from Experian letting me know that they inquired about it. I already know my credit isn't the greatest. Wonder how much that matters to a bank when you apply? I'm still keeping my eyes peeled for other opportunities. Bob is being so patient with me not working and bringing in some extra income. Too bad I can't just wiggle my nose and make a job happen.

Speaking of jobs, I went to work with Bob again yesterday and helped him with a few things. The homeowners of one of the homes he's remoding is turning their old dinningroom into an office. I helped him hang the double doors they wanted in one of the entrances. It's really going to look nice once he's done with the framing of it and when they get it painted. At another home he was getting some finish work done on, I helped out with the tiniest of tasks. The electrican he has, #1 doesn't like ladders very well and he had to climb up a pretty high one to change out the old spot light on the back corner of the house to replace it with the new double spot light the homeowners bought. While up there he discovered a hornets nest inside the old electricc box to the light fixture. It was an active nest and he came right back down that ladder as fast as he could. I told him and Bob both that I'd go up there and get rid of the nest if they'd like me to. (I'm not to partial to shaky ladders myself). Once the electrican knew I was serious he handed me his screw driver to get the nest out with. Bob located me some spray from under the homeowners sink so up I went. It really wasn't so bad since it has been getting colder and the hornets were fast on there way to becoming dormaint for the rest of the year. I got up to the electric box and sure enough saw movement so I sprayed them and they started to cral out. I just took the screw driver and flung them out and got the nests they had in there out (about 4 little ones) and came back down. While I was up there, the electrican said to Bob .... "that's some girl you've got there, I'd say she's a keeper". Not only does he not care for being up on ladders, he hates bees. Guess I did a good thing and saved the day so the work could get finished. Now these homeowners have the sweetest dog. Her name is Asta. I personally have never seen a breed like her before. I've seen smaller ones. (Schnauser(sp) I believe they are), but I forget what they said she is. I took a couple pictures of her with my cell phone camera. They came out a bit blurry but I still think she's adorable.

Have you ever seen a dog like this before?

Fantastic Day

The weather is simply fabulous....74 degrees (feels like 80 to me) with the sun shinning. Barely a cloud in the sky. I took advantage of this and went for a walk in the park. I found a cool paved path that will be great for me to ride my bike on. Although I feel like I'm 9 months prego when I walk...I spent 1/2 an hour sweating and enjoying it. The nice thing about the weather here, is the winter is so mild most of the time that I feel Ill be able to take advantage of this path for a long time. It felt good to be out there and moving around. I refuse to buy anymore clothes until the ones I have stop squeezing me. I hope the weather is just as nice tomorrow. Even though I'm going to work with Bob tomorrow to help him install a door, I want to be able to get out and not be rained on.

Hope everyone is having a nice day.

Enough is enough

I have been shopping lately for new clothes to wear that are more professional looking than anything I've ever had in my closet. While this is a good thing and makes me feel good to know that whenever I do get hired somewhere, I'll atleast look the part. Where I've had enough is, my weight. I've been bad and gained quite a few pounds since being here and out of work. I have a goal now to be more active and eat way better than I/we have been since I've been here. I'm tired of my jeans suffocating me everytime I put them on and having to wear a huge t-shirt to cover up the fact that the jeans have just pushed up my fat to hang over the waistline. (Trust me, it's as bad as it sounds.) I'm back up to 180 and I'm only 5' 4". With my body structure, I could feesably get down to 120 and look great and not too skinny. I'm not going after the skinny look, I just want to be thinner and have my clothes fit better so I don't feel as though I can't breathe when I zip up my pants. I know that 140 is an obtainable goal so that's where I'm starting. Once I meet that, if I want to go more I will. We took my bike out of the storage unit and brought it over to the apartment. For a week now it's been sitting under the outside steps chained to the post under a tarp. I am determined to get on it and ride it.

Bob is so good to me. He only wants me to loose weight if it's something I feel I need to do. I know I'll look better and feel better and for him, that's all that matters. I went and bought quite alot of heathly things to keep here in the house. It's a start. I know that the Holidays are coming up quickly, but if I can get myself into a good eating routine before then, I'll be fine. Here is how I look this morning lounging in my favorite pair of sweat pants.

Wish me luck. I'll repost this in one month and hopefully we'll all see a difference that is positive!!

blah

I've been feeling rather blah today. think I picked up a little 24 hour bug or something. Been feeling like I've had a slight fever all day and been in and out of the bathroom too. What a way to spend a really nice day....oh well.

I have been looking through the classifieds again today. I get so overwhelmed with all the things they have here. I was hoping to find some good looking job fairs to go to this week, but nothing is there. I may eventually go through a temp agency. Atleast that way I can get my foot in the door somewhere and if nothing else, gain some experience. I'm a bit burned out on this today, so I'm stopping now.

Spent Friday and Saturday going to work with bob and helping him out on a few things. Last night we went to our friends house and hung out. We all shared our horror stories of how rude and unreliable some companies are in the way they treat you. Verizon was top on the list with Comcast a close 2nd. Amazing that it's the 2 top communication companies that seem to enjoy screwing over the customers. I won't go into the subject in detail, but you all know the routine. Call for a service and they give you a "window" of when the tech will show to do said work then not show and and you've spent nearly all your energy trying to argue with them that you took off work to sit in your house all day for nothing etc.... You just had to be there for the conversation...added to the fact that all stories were discussed with consuming alcohol...LOL. (not me though, I had sierra mist).

Oh well, enough blab for one day.

Feelin good

After going to the open house for Commerce Bank and getting my interview done, I feel alot better about being able to go after a career change. I won't know anything for about a week. If I happen to see or hear about something else in the mean time, I'm going to scope it out. I'm more than ready now to get out there again and work.

I have a job interview tomorrow!!!

Cross your fingers and toes or whatever you want to cross for me. I recieved a call today from Commerce Bank for a position as Customer Service Representive. I can still go for teller if I want, but she's positive I more than qualify for the other position. I know I can do it, I just don't want to get into something that is more than I want. I know I'll like it, that's for sure. If I go part time, that is Thursday through Sunday's....(everyweek at 29 hours). If I go Full time, it's Monday through Friday and alternate weekends...(40 hours). I have a feeling if they like me and offer me the job, I'll more than likely go with Full time. The main reason being, I don't want to end up in a "hi/bye" relationship with Bob. The part time position is Thursday's & Friday's from 3 to 8pm and day shifts on Saturday's & Sunday's. I hear you know... and I agree...that's not a bad shift at all. When Bob starts his job in DC, he'll be working Monday through Friday early mornings and off the weekends. He'll still be doing his regular self employed stuff, but if he and I are to get time off together to say..."go bacck to Ohio or PA"..it would have to be on the weekend and if I take that part time position, we won't be able to do that. Oh the decisions I have lately....lol. I really didn't want to work 40 hours a week, but I guess it's way better than 50 a week and mostly all 2 to midnight shifts huh?!!

You know I went on a little shopping trip today and got my nails done and had to get an eyebrow wax. Poor things were starting to grow everywhich way. The other day I bought a pair of shoes and two outfits and today I bought one more outfit. I still need shoes to wear with a dress/skirt.

I rode the Metro (subway) all by myself today. Good thing since I have to do it again tomorrow to get to Vienna, Va where the open house/interview is. Plus, that's where the two weeks of training will be. I'm glad that I'm comfortable with the Metro system. Trust me, if you have never used it before and/or if you hate being in dark places for too long like me, it takes some getting used to. Tunnels aren't too bad as long as I can see that light at the end. The first time I rode the Metro with Bob, it really freaked me out. It's not so bad now though. I almost dozed off on the ride home today. Sure beats trying to drive in all the DC traffic!!

My interview isn't until 4pm tomorrow which is a good thing since I still need to find a good pair of dress shoes. Finally I get the chance after 19 years to actually wear nice clothes to a job and not have to put my hair up unless I want to.

Stay tuned for an update!

Having a good time

Bob & I went to downtown DC yesterday and went through the National Museum of Natural History. There are so many things to see in there....wow. It's nothing like I ever remembered from being a kid and going in there. We rode the Metro (subway) into DC and that's always interesting in itself. It was a beautiful day to be outside and walking too. The buildings downtown are simply awesome to me. I used my 35mm camera mostly today so any photos I took will have to wait until I get around to getting them developed. When we decided we'd seen all we were interested in, we decided to head out and find a good place to eat. We came upon the Hard Rock Cafe. Always a good choice. Bob chose the steak quesadillas and I chose the pulled pork sandwhich...which when the bill arrived it was simply stated as PIG SAND. We both chuckled over that one. Here are some of our photos from lunch and just us having a great day.

I need to give a warning out to all the ladies reading this. Never leave the camera with your man when you go to the bathroom. I swear to God he does it to me all the time. Gets a photo of me leaving the bathroom no matter where we are. He's actually started a collection of them. Sheesh, you'd think I'd learn by now. I look as though I'm madder than a wet hen about something too and I wasn't. Does he not realize how unattractive these photos are???!!!!!

Like this one is so much more attractive.

Check out the bill with the " PIG SAND ".

It was a great day out that's for sure and I hope we can do that again soon.

This is my grandson Isaac. I took this about a month and a 1/2 ago. He's growing up so fast and is now 9 months old.

This is my grand daughter Deydra. She spent the night with me one night before I moved to come here. She wanted the light left on so she would fall asleep but instead put a pillow over her head. I just had to snap that picture.

WooooHooooo it's Friday

And my point is??? I don't have one. I just wanted to sound excited about it being Friday and I don't have to go to work or do anything I don't want to do. I'm enjoying all these Friday's for as long as I can.

Sunday Bob and I are going downtown to DC. I'm checking out which Smithsonian Museum we should go to and I think I'd like to go up the Washington Monument. I haven't been inside of it since I was a kid.

I feel better today than I did yesterday. I swear sometimes when I spout off like I did yesterday and let things get to me (even the smallest of things) that it's just from the moodiness of menopause or something.

Sooooo, I'm about to do the biggest thing on my list for today and that's to take a really long hot shower then check out some things to do on Sunday. I hope you all have a great day (and don't work too hard).

I wonder sometimes "what was I thinking".

So here I am 45+ years old and have worked in Management for nearly 20 years. So how is it that I can't pass a simple math test? What is this??? ((6+4)(6+4))-(25x2)=? I remember when I was in my sophmore year of high school and had algebra, that I got A's & B's. I haven't the slightest clue how to go about with these problems. I'm applying online for a bank teller position. I have been a banking customer for a good many years now and I have never witnessed even one teller using algebra to complete one of my transactions!! There were more test problems besides the one I posted here, but I don't remember them. Fractions even. So okay I'm about to let you all know how ignorant I am when it comes to math. What is 1/2 of 2/3rds? I swear if I have to take a math test for real when and not online, I have a fear now that they will laugh me right out their bank.

I could get a job here today at any Subway here in town with my past history....BUT IT'S NOT WHAT I WANT TO DO ANYMORE!!

I have been at this computer for an hour an a 1/2 applying online with my new resume and my brain is fried more now than when I woke up. I'm feeling pretty stupid at the moment for not knowing simple algebra.

Explain that!!!

I recieved this in my email this morning and thought it worthy of sharing!!

A mother and her very young son were flying Southwest Airlines
from Kansas City to Chicago.
The little boy (who had been looking
out the window) turned to his mother and asked, "If big dogs have baby dogs, and big cats have baby cats, why don't big airplanes have baby airplanes?"

The mother (who couldn't think of an answer) told her son to
ask the stewardess.

So the boy went down the aisle and asked the stewardess. The stewardess, who was very busy at the time, smiled and said, "Did your Mom tell you to ask me?"

The boy said, "Yes she did."

"Well, then, you go and tell your mother that there are no baby airplanes because Southwest always pulls out on time. Have your Mom explain that to you."

Enjoy your day.

I can't believe we found it !

I was at a loss today as to what to blog about, but I visited Ocean's blog today and her post reminded me of what happened yesterday so I decided to blog about that.

Bob and I decided to take an early morning walk yesterday morning. (After all the Dallas Cowboy's were playing at 1:00pm later that day and I knew that's where Bob was going to be). I do not like the case/clip they sold us for my cell phone when Bob added me to his plan a few weeks ago. When we left for our walk, I slid the phone in my left front pocket. We had a great walk through the neighborhood going on some roads we haven't been on yet and looking at the houses. ( We live in a Historic neighborhood.) When we returned home, I discovered my cell phone was no longer in my pocket. I was so close to panic mode. When we purchased my phone, we declined the insurance for coverage against it being lost or stolen. ($265 to replace this phone otherwise) We hopped in the car and "retraced" our route down to the park because I was POSITIVE I still had it when I went to the restroom because I was being very careful NOT to let it fall out of my pocket while trying NOT to sit down.....(ladies I know you understand that statement). It wasn't there so Bob rewalked our route home while I drove back to a street where I bent down to pet a cat that walked out to greet us. Not there either. I drove back a few streets looking for Bob and when I found him he was 1/2 way back with no luck at all. I told him to "call the phone". To our amazement a woman answered and said hello. Bob told her she had our phone and they met up around the corner and up the hill. I drove around and was thanking the woman for finding it and nearly ran over Bob because I wasn't looking in his direction. It was a crazy morning that's for sure. Bob knew I was in much more of a panic than he was. He's lost his a couple of times and found it but for me somehow it was way different. I knew how costly it was going to be to replace it and after all.....I didn't pay for it he did. ( I know honey, it's our money but you understand how I felt). It turned out great in the end and I'm glad that's over with. I also promised him that even though I don't like the case/clip, I'd wear it when we took a walk from now on.

I'll ask the same question Ocean did.....What was the last thiing you lost? And did you find it?
