Fun in the not-so-sun

Well here it is Friday and day off #2.
Heather and the kids and I are going up tp Geauga Lake today.
Hopefully even though it looks like lots of rain coming, we'll have fun.
Heather needs to get out and Deydra is really looking forward to going back up there.
Deydra says ...."who cares if it rains....we'll be in the water park getting wet anyway".
Who can argue with that point....lol
Soooooo...it's off we go and hopefully it will be a good day for the adults as well as for the 6 yr old.

Is this funny or a good idea?

Buddy on Demand. Click on that to read the article then comment and let me know what you think about this new idea. I think it wouldn't make me feel any safer, but then again, I'm not one to be afraid to drive alone. At first I thought this was hilariously funny. Are there people out there that afraid to drive alone at night that something like this would make them feel safer? Hmmmmm.

On a side not from yesterday's post...I'm feeling a bit better and slept really good lastnight. That button finally went off for atleast one night so I could sleep. Thanks anyway Denny, but I'll let Bob find it for me the next time I need it....hehehe.

Where's that Damn Button.............

My mind has a 1,000+ things on it today it seems.
My Mom.............She sounds so tired lately.
My Dad.....slipping away it seems more everyday.
My Daughter and her kids.....getting all moved and dealing with being pregnant again.
My Son.....just miss him alot.
Myself.....my upcoming test has been on my mind alot.

I'm in a mood. (not a bad one or even a great one...just a mood)
Too tired to even go to work tonight but have to anyway.
Just want to find that damn button that controls these thoughts so I can snap out of it!

Looking forward to the coming Friday. Taking Heather and Deydra back up to Geauga Lake for more fun in the sun and water!! (hoping now it doesn't rain Friday).

It's Monday.......and I don't even feel awake.....

Today is a no energy day for me so far. My Grand daughter called me at 7:30 to let me know she was going skating today with Day-Care. She sounded so excited, but I was still not all the way awake when she called. I got to talk to Bob a little bit this morning too and that always makes me smile. I wish I knew why I'm so tired this morning. All I keep doing is yawning. I need to start filling out these questionaires for that sleep test I'm going to have on the 9th. If I can stay focused on that..lol.

Not much else on my mind so I'm off of here...............................................

This weeks theme is Action. While at Geauga Lake Park tuesday with my Grand daughter, I snapped these 2 photos of the water bucket dumping water on the people below. It was great fun and really cold water for a hot day. There is no better way to cool off.

A Birthday spent having much fun!!!!! 7-18-06

She had a great day spending it at Geauga Lake Amusement Park. I'm pleased that I picked a fun spot for her. I wish that she would have had a little playmate to join her, but all in all she loved the entire day. I took a few photos from atop the Ferris wheel that shows the roller coasters that she can look forward to trying when she's older. The water park was a huge hit. I myself had loads of fun. I loved the water slides as much as she did. I didn't dare take my camera anywhere near the big slides we went on as there was way too much water to damage my camera. Hope you enjoy these photos and try to image just how we filled 6 and 1/2 hours of the day having fun!!!!!

Short Update

It's safe to say I've been pretty busy this week.
Closed both Sunday and Monday night 2 to 11:30 and never made it home till after midnight.
Tuesday was Deydra's 6th Birthday and she spent the entire day with me.
I took her to Geauga Lake Amusement Park .
We had the best time a Grandma can have with her Grand daughter let me tell you.
We were there from noon to 6:30pm.
We spent 90% of the day at the water park.
She said to me atleast 3 times that I remember..."this is the best Birthday ever!!!"
Mission accomplished!!
She was so worn out that I'm still not sure she remembers walking up the stairs to my apartment.
She spent the night with me lastnight.

Today was spent mostly with Deydra in the morning while Isaac had that laser surgery for that tiny growth in his mouth.
Spent the rest of the afternoon helping my Daughter move some of her stuff over to her new aprtment.
The best part of the deal was since she now has central air conditioning, she gave me her little window unit.
Now I have a/c in my bedroom and livingroom.

Too tired tonight to post any new pictures.
I'll be posting some tomorrow though.

Crazy Day yesterday

Morning started out ok...nothing out of the ordinary.
Stopped to pick up some product for work that we were out of.
I get to work and for some unknown reason my day fell apart in seconds.
I get out of the truck.
I left the windows rolled down because it was so hot so there was no need to lock the truck.
(best unconscious move I made)
I'm standing outside the truck with the driver door open.
I put my purse on my left shoulder and attach my keys to my purse.
I pick up the bag of stuff I just picked up which included a huge jar of applesauce.
I have these items cradled in my left arm.
With my right hand I proceed to shut the driver door to my truck.
I ALWAYS just push it shut.
I have no clue why this particular time while shutting the door, I kept my hand around it.
The next thing I know my middle finger, ring finger and pinky finger was still in the door.
There I stand with my left arm full of stuff and my right hand shut in the damn car door!!!
I have never shut my hand in the door before and let me tell you it hurts like hell!!!
How I managed NOT too drop the things I was holding is simply amazing.
Things were registering pretty slowly too it seemed.
Looking at my fingers shut in the door, tried to pull them out, realizing now it's hurting.
Finally reached down with my left fingers and lifted the latch to open the door.
I had a dent in my fingers at an angle across all 3 cuticles.
Keep in mind that I have some arthritis in my knuckles so it compounded the pain.
The cuticle on my middle finger hurt the worst.
After I got inside of work I put an ice pack on my hand.
Took over the shift from the day supervisor and heard about all the strangeness from her shift.
It was just a weird night is all I'll say about it.
Late in the evening my Daughter calls me to tell me my Grandson has been admitted to Akron Children's Hospital.
He's had this "cyst" on his inner thigh that he's been on meds for.
Well, it started seeping and long story short needs lanced.
He's getting that done at 10am this morning.
I'll update on that later.
I'm hoping today is a better day.
Atleast my fingers aren't nearly as sore and aren't bruised like I thought they'd be.

How I spent my day off.................

You know, I just don't get some people

On my way to work yesterday morning I was behind this small car. I beleive it was a little honda prelude. (not that it really matters). It was still a little dark but the morning sun was coming up enough that it wasn't hard to see what was infront of you. The road I take is mostly 40mph. There is a small stretch that passes a golfing community and the speed limit drops down to 35mph. Not far passed a certain intersection, there is a pond off to the right. It is well known for the geese to hang out around there. This particular morning the geese were crossing the road. Now I saw them and I was behind the car in front of me. I saw the geese from the headlights of the oncoming cars waiting for the geese to cross the road. The car infront of me couldn't care less what was infront of him as he didn't even slow down and just plowed right through this flock of geese. I couldn't believe my eyes. I was so angry and stunned as I saw thousands of feathers everywhere and poor geese being tossed around like bowling pins. I'm sure I'm making this sound humorous but trust me here folks it was disheartening to see. I had to stop completely and see infront of me geese trying to drag their injured bodies to the side of the road while others laid there distorted and dead. The rest of the flock that was on either side of the road were just honking wildly. It was really a sad thing to witness. If I would have seen the license plate number of that car, I would have called the police immediately and reported him. You hit one goose at 40mph and you're going to kill it, let alone about 12 to 15 geese. I had to wait for about 4 oncoming cars to pass the scene carefully so I could cross over and pass these poor creatures on the opposite side of the road. What could any of us commuters do at this point but to keep moving on to our destinations. Later in the afternoon on my way home from work (same road), I remembered that seen as on the lawns there were still areas covered with feathers. I just don't understand how some people have total disregard for animals.

Don't worry about it he says........

Back on June 16th I think it was, I had my "yearly exam" that turned out to be a complete physical. The doc found that the front of my heart isn't beating like it should and he ordered an ultra sound done. Well, I had that a couple of weeks ago and today when I came home from work there was a message on the answering machine from the doc's office. They said I needed to call the office because I need another test. Well I called and you won't believe what they want me to do. Seems the ultra sound came back abnormal and they want me to have a sleep test. I'm calling back tomorrow to ask to speak to the doctor directly about this. I want to know exactly why he's ordering that sort of test and just what is he's looking for! I no sooner got off the phone that now I have chest flutters. I get that every now and then when I'm either stressed out or angry about something or at this point quite nervous. Don't worry my ass!!!

Modern Technology...yeah right

Woke up at 7 this morning and started to come over here to the computer to sign on and let Bob know I was awake, (we like having a little morning chat while he gets ready for his work day) but for some unknown reason I didn't have internet access. Well having SBC DSL, I have a self help tool on here. It kept getting shut down. I ended up calling SBC to find out if they could figure out why I lost connection and why I couldn't get it back. The woman that took my info over the phone says "you are the 12th caller this morning from your area. There was an internet outage in your area around 6am. The technoligist tell me it should be back on around noon or 1pm." Great. I went outside to sit on the porch and read a book and enjoy the morning breeze when Ev came out to tie up her dog. I asked her if she was having internet problems too (she also has SBC) and she said no that she was just on talking to her mom and checking on some school stuff. Well hell!! I came back up here a little bit ago and call SBC again to inquire why in the same house (I just have the upstairs apartment) that she would have connection and I don't. Well I listened a little closer to the "promps" the recording had and it said to unplug the moden then the computer...wait 20 seconds and plug them both back in (in the same order) and that connection could be restored. So I hung uip and tried it. Well do I even need to say it worked?

Not sure I had anything important to write about today, but it felt good to bitch alittle....lol.

This week's theme is signs. I'm very late in posting this as I had to be at work at 6:30 this morning and I'm just settling in from getting home. Long day.

Anyway, I took this photo while on my vacation with Bob. We were in Annapolis, Md. This is a sign telling about the statues in the following photo. If you click on the photo, I'm sure you'll be able to read the entire thing without squinting. This is an Alex-Haley Memorial. Kunta Kinte reading to the children about their heritage. (sorry that a bird flew in my photo and distorted it...silly bird)

I have the day off today and the weather is going to be great!! No rain ata ll in the forecast and it's only going to be in the high 70's so it won't be so hot you can't stand it. I'm going to have my grand daughter all day today. I called my Daughter yesterday and told her to drop her off here instead of taking her to daycare. I'm looking forward to having a great relaxing and somewhat fun day. I have no clue yet as to what we'll end up doing, but with Deydra it's bound to be fun. I think maybe I'll take deydra and Cerebus out for a drive and end up somewhere we can walk in the woods. I see a photo opportunity in here somewhere too. I'm in a good mood just thinking about having a good day. It feels nice to have actually gotten some good sleep in and feel rested when I woke up. I just finished 5 nights in a row of closes and get the next 2 days off. Those nights shifts kick my ass. I swear I'm getting too old to do them anymore. It's not like it's even hard work. Not phyically hard, just mentally draing after awhile. Oh well, what can I do but do them anyway.

The funniest thing ever was in my mailbox when I came home from work lastnight. There was a letter from the AARP stating that they have noticed I haven't signed up for my benefits yet even though I qualify. I'm sitting here looking at it thinking since when does someone only 45 yrs old qualifyt for benefits from the AARP. On the back of this letter it says that if you are over 50 then why are you waiting? I about died from laughter. Stupid stuff like auto mailers crack me up. Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against getting older. Infact the thought of being 50 in a few years appeals to me. Why? I don't know. I just think it's funny. I never thought I'd ever be 45 let alone 50 one day. As a kid I always thought that was older than dirt itself. To be honest here, I love it when people tell me there is no way I'm 45. Makes a person feel good. If I'm alone with my grandkids, people assume they are mine. Once when I was picking Deydra up from daycare they thought I was her Aunt. They didn't believe that I was old enough to be my Daughter's Mother. I love it. Pretty soon though, if I don't get my hair colored again those statements may stop. My grey hair is showing through again.

I haven't had a book to read in just one day but it feels longer. Could it be I'm in withdraw? I can go forever without reading until I find a good book that captures my interest and holds my attention. This series I've been reading by John Sandford is doing just that. I'm thinking a run to the book store is in order today as well. Perhaps I'll even buy my Deydra a book. It's awesome that she is in beginner books and reading as well as she does. It would be great to just sit outside somewhere and have her read me a book. How cool would that be. Lots of possibilities today. I'm sure looking forward to them all.

What will you be doing today?

Been Busy

I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July celebrations. I didn't do anything since I had to work lastnight. Surprisingly we were kept pretty busy. I did manage to talk to my son for 1/2 an hour yesterday. I miss him. Hard to believe he's been down in Florida for a year now. I'm so glad he's doing great.

My daughter found a new apartment and will be moving sometime soon. I'm not thrilled with the location, but the savings will be huge for her. She got this apartment through Metro Housing. The apartments are really nice..way better than mine even. I just don't like the area. She's going to be going to school next year. She hasn't decided whether to take nursing yet or not. She's been leaning in that direction.

My grandson was 6 months old yesterday. Can you believe it?!! He's growing up so fast. Heck my grand daughter will be 6 yrs old on the 18th of this month. She'll be in 1st grade when school starts back up. She loves being a "big girl".

Guess my mind is in a 1,000 different directions today and not focused on any one thing. I get that way from time to time anymore. Guess I should go find some cleaning to do. Seems there is always plenty of that to do. No matter how many hours a week I work and I'm not here, there's always something to clean up.

Hope everyone out there in blogland has a great day.

Photo Scavenger Hunt

This weeks theme is "Automobile(s)". I'm posting late because I forgot it was Saturday. I took my Mother to the Canton Classic Car Museum this week for something enjoyable to do on my day off. I took both my cameras and I'm glad I did. However the photos I'm about to post were taken with my digital camera and the batteries were dying. I'm afraid these photos came out badly. I haven't yet developed the film from my 35mm camera. I'm hoping those came out much better. Well, here it goes..................................

These were just a few that I captured on film. I wish I could upload them all.

I would like to add my photo for last weeks theme as well. I was out of town and away from my computer. Last week's theme was "Love". I choose this photo because I love him so much and miss him just as much. It's hard having a long distance relationship due to the distance and time spent apart. It's well worth the endurance though when you find the person you want to be with for the rest of your life. This is us.
