going out of town

Bob and I are leaving tonight for our Pennsylvania/Ohio trip. The way it looks now, we are headed to his Mom's this evening and will sleep over at a hotel since we'll be getting in late. First thing tomorrow morning, we'll show up at his Mom's door and spend the day with her. We'll stay over at her place Friday night then we are all meeting up right outside of Jamestown, NY and will go to a casino 1st thing. We have a brunch cruise booked for after the casino. Bob's Sister and 2 Brothers are joining us for that. After the brunch cruise, Bob and I will be Ohio bound. We'll be coming into town there around 7pm and will probably show up at my Mom's house for an evening visit. We'll be staying at my Daughter's house instead of a hotel. On Sunday, we are taking my Daughter and my Grandkids up to Geauga Lake for some much needed fun. Come Monday, I want to take my Mom out for lunch and spend some time with her. We'll have to head back Monday afternoon since I have to be right back to work Tuesday morning at 7am. I know I'm going to one tired girl, but it's going to be well worth it.

I'll plan on sharing photos when I get back.

Our weekend

This was our view from section 404, row K, seats 11 and 12 at the Verizon Center on Friday evening when we went there to see Keith Urban perform in concert. It was a blast! We stopped at Union Station 1st to look around and eat dinner. This was my 1st time at both places. I didn't take my camera with me because #1 I wasn't sure if we were allowed to take pictures and #2, I just didn't want to carry it. I think I'm all caught up now on rest. We had a late night (for us anyway) on Friday by getting to bed at 12:30am. We both woke early on Saturday and took a walk and stopped by a few houses with our friends for coffee. I came back home and slept for about an hour and a 1/2. I did manage to get my hair colored and trimmed too yesterday afternoon. We went back to our friend John's house and grilled sausages and fish and later we made smores. (I'm sooo going back on my diet!!!) Today we drove to Arlington, VA to the Pentagon City Mall. We usually Metro, but since it's Sunday, we drove. Traffic wasn't bad at all and finding it was really easy. We made a few purchases for our trip back to see our Mom's next weekend.

I've tried 4 times now to get this posted. Our computer is really acting wierd on us and I'm about to call the GEEK SQUAD out to look at it. All I did the other day was purchase and download a Norton Security upgrade. Our Norton kept telling us that our subscription was running out and I finally did something about it. Now though, we have a hard time staying online and when we are online, getting from one page to another is outragously ridiculous. I'm not even going to try to explain how we've been getting that to work. I'm going to get this posted before explorer closes on me AGAIN!

Hello

Here at work right now (using the VP's computer) with about 10 minutes left on my lunch break. Things are going very well here and I'm learning more everyday.

I spoke to my son lastnight on the phone. Things there are going okay for him, but he says it's really hard. He is now certified in CPR. He has had a few exams and passed them all "fairly well" he says. They need a 70% to pass and he's gotten 90% on one and 80% on two. He had a big exam yesterday that took 2 hours (on 10 chapters) and he just barely passed it with a 70%. He was pretty upset with himself and says he's going to crack down on his studies. Other than that,, he's doing great.

I also spoke with my Daughter and the kids. They sound so grown up. I can't wait to get there next weekend.

Lunch is over now....so it's back to work I go!!!...................................

Hmmm...what's new...........

Well, I told you that I was promoted to the sales counter so I'll start there. Things are going well with that. I have alot to learn but I'm picking it up rather smoothly. Bob has been a big help to me by sitting here pretending to be a customer and "ordering" things so that I can look them up in my "sales book/bible" as I call it. I have personally noticed that I'm asking for help less and less when I wait on a customer. I still do ask when something is asked for that I haven't heard of or if I'm not sure we carry something they are looking for. I took a picture of my desk today with my cell phone so you could see my little cubicle.

They fixed me up with a company email today too and ordered my business cards. Bob sent me an email at work to tell me my email is now on the company's web page. I was a bit excited to see it there. Here, go check it out. It's funny to me how something so small made my day. It feels good about all the things that are happening good in my favor over the last year. I have been employed now for less than 90 days and have been invovled in 3 or 4 different aspects of work here. My evaluation is due around August 29th. I think it would be nice if they offered a pay increase, but I'm not thinking they will since I just recieved one last week when they moved me over to sales. All I know right at this moment is, that I absolutely love what I'm doing and I'm really glad that they like me enough to give me these opportunities. It's now wonder they have so many employees with longevity.

In other updates.... Bob and I are going to see Keith Urban in concert on August 17. I'm really looking forward to that night out. We both have been working hard and we deserve it. We are also going away for a 4 day weekend on the 24th through the 27th so we can go to Pennsylvania and Ohio to see out Mothers. His Mother's Birthday is the 22nd and she'll turn 80 and my Mom's Birthday was the 7th and she turned 75. Even though it's going to be a short trip, we'll be busy and get alot in.

I heard from my Son a few times this week by phone. He's been very busy out there in Texas with his training.

I guess that's it for now.

Gone Fishin'

Actually, I WENT fishing yesterday. A small group of us from work went out on a chartered fishing boat on the Chesapeake Bay. Here are some photos of the fun we were having. Oh, and I should mention that it was 96ยบ and very hazy. I was hoping there would be some sort of breeze out there, but there wasn't. The 1st Mate was a big help to us by bating our hooks and removing the fish we caught. The Mate works on tips only so we all pitched in $20. The Mate filets the fish at a small fee of $2.00 per Rock Fish and $1.00 per Blue Fish. We were only allowed 2 Rock Fish per person plus 1 for the boat. We caught 15 which was our limit yesterday. Once we had that quota, the Captain moved us to a different location to "bottom" fish for perch, dot fish and croakers. I personally never heard of croakers and let me be tell you, they do indeed croak!! It was the funniest thing I ever heard. Catching the Blue fish was pretty cool. They trolled around the Bay in circles with 4 lines out and when one snapped on, we would all take turns reeling them in. Sometimes it was hard, but it sure was a blast. I already told them, that when they plan this again for next year, I'm in!! We were on the boat from 2 to 8pm and thank goodnes for the 30spf sunscreen. My arms are a nice light brown, but NO SUNBURN!!

I have news!!

I'm at work right now on my lunch break so I have a few minutes to be on here. The first bit of news that I have, is that I have been promoted at work. I'll now be working behind the sales counter. I'm pretty excited about it and nervous about it too (just a little). The great news is, all the people the really matter (the higher ups) feel that I'll do a great job behind the counter. The gentleman that is in charge of commodities here, said that I'll be an asset. I sure hope I can live up to that. The one and only downfall about this now and that isn't even a big deal, is that I can no longer access this blog during work. It hasn't been an issue because my desk is in the back and away from the customer area. Now my desk will amack dab in the middle of customers so it;s not cool for me to sit at my desk and blogging. I was told that we can check our emails though. I feel that makes perfect sense since the customers wouldn't know if I was on a break or not. The really cool thing is that now if I want I can take an hour lunch. I've been packing a lunch and only taking a half an hour. I live so close now that if I want to, I can go home for lunch and not pack. I'm money hungry so I still think most days I'll just take the 1/2 hour. Decisions, decisions.

Time is up so it's back to work for now.
